Filtration is a system, not a label. The filter media, seal, dust path and fan all determine how much fine dust remains inside the airflow. A filter that is saturated or poorly seated can reduce suction even if the motor is working normally.
Know which filter you have
Some xftech models use a HEPA H13 filter; others use a washable primary filter with a different service interval. Read the model manual before washing. A washable pre-filter is not the same as a disposable HEPA cartridge.
Clean without damaging the media
Tap loose dust into a waste bin away from living areas. Use a soft brush only if the manual allows it. Do not use high-pressure water, harsh chemicals or a hot dryer. Allow a washable component to dry completely before reinstalling it.
Signs replacement is due
- The filter remains visibly dark after cleaning.
- Suction feels weaker on the same floor and setting.
- The filter seal is bent, torn or no longer fits securely.
- Odor remains after the dust path and dock are cleaned.
- The recommended service interval has passed under heavy use.
Protect airflow around the filter
Check the dust bin, inlet and dock path as well as the filter. A clear filter cannot compensate for a blocked inlet or a full bag. After reinstalling the filter, run a short test and confirm that the robot docks without a performance warning.
Filters in pet households
A pet household may need more frequent inspection because hair and dander load the filter faster. The X1 Pet guide explains the brush, dock and odor-control side of this routine. Keep genuine replacement parts available so a saturated filter does not interrupt the schedule.
Commercial filter planning
For an office or hotel fleet, track filters by operating hours rather than calendar date alone. A high-traffic lobby may require a shorter interval than a guest corridor. Record replacement dates in the service log so a unit is not fitted with a visibly exhausted filter.
A practical filter routine
- Inspect the filter weekly in a pet home or high-traffic space.
- Clean only the filter types approved for washing.
- Let the filter dry fully before reinstalling.
- Replace it when airflow, appearance or seal condition changes.
- Check the dust path after every replacement.
