Hardwood can look simple to clean, but moisture management and edge contact make the difference between routine maintenance and avoidable floor damage. The robot should match the finish and the way the room is used.
Confirm the floor is sealed
Use a mopping robot only on sealed hardwood. Unsealed or damaged finishes can absorb moisture and should be cleaned according to the flooring manufacturer’s guidance. Test a small area with the lowest water setting before scheduling a full clean.
Control water flow
Start with the lowest practical water level. The floor should dry quickly without visible standing moisture. Avoid leaving a wet mop pad against the floor after the cycle. H1 Pure and X1 Pro Max support adjustable mopping workflows, but the correct setting still depends on the room.
Choose the right brush and suction
Hard floors generally benefit from strong airflow and controlled brush contact. A standard or medium mode is often enough for daily dust, while higher suction can help around entryways and pet areas. Keep the brush free of hair so it maintains consistent contact.
Edge and corner cleaning
The side brush moves debris away from skirting boards and into the cleaning path. Check that the brush is straight and clean. Furniture legs, door frames and tight corners may still need occasional manual attention, especially in a large room.
Protect thresholds and transitions
Measure door saddles and transitions to rugs. X1 models support up to about 20 mm in suitable conditions, while H1 Essential is intended for lower thresholds. A raised trim or loose transition strip should be repaired before automated cleaning.
Set a simple routine
- Vacuum hard floors daily at a standard mode.
- Mop less often if the floor finish is sensitive.
- Use a higher suction pass around the main entrance and kitchen.
- Inspect the brush and mop pad after every few cycles.
Reduce risk with a first-run check
Remove loose cables, small rugs and standing water before the first clean. Verify the robot can cross the highest transition without scraping. If a rug curls or slides, add a no-go zone or secure the edge before scheduling again.
